Lancome Description

Experience Lancôme's extensive makeup, skincare, and fragrance collection, representing over eight decades of French beauty innovation. Lancôme was founded in 1935 by Guillaume d'Ornano and his business partner Armand Petitjean, a former head pharmacist who had worked with François Coty, the father of modern perfumery. The brand's name was inspired by the ruins of Le Château de Lancosme in the Indre valley, while the roses surrounding the castle led to the creation of Lancôme's iconic single golden rose emblem.

Petitjean launched five fragrances at the 1935 World's Fair in Brussels: Tropiques, Conquête, Kypre, Tendres Nuits, and Bocages, all winning medals for their quality. The brand quickly expanded beyond fragrance, introducing Nutrix in 1936, an all-purpose repair cream that became legendary and remains available today. In 1938, Lancôme challenged convention by launching Rose de France, a pale pink lipstick with a soft texture, at a time when bold red indelible lipsticks dominated the market. The gamble paid off, with Rose de France becoming the bestselling lipstick for three decades. Lancôme joined L'Oréal in 1964, gaining the resources to expand globally while maintaining its commitment to quality and innovation.

The current collection includes extensive makeup offerings such as foundations, lipsticks, concealers, and highlighters, with the Hypnôse mascara range standing as one of the brand's most successful products since its 2004 launch. La Vie Est Belle, introduced in 2012 with Julia Roberts as its ambassador, has become one of the world's bestselling fragrances and is frequently featured in gift sets alongside other Lancôme favourites. The Advanced Génifique serum represents the brand's skincare expertise, combining cutting-edge research with the accessible luxury that has defined Lancôme since Petitjean first presented his fragrances nearly 90 years ago.
