Maison Caron was founded in Paris in 1904 by perfumer Ernest Daltroff and Félicie Wanpouille, whose creative partnership shaped both its fragrances and visual identity. The house established an important place in twentieth-century French perfumery through creations such as Tabac Blond and Pour Un Homme de Caron, while continuing to reinterpret its heritage through modern compositions and new variations of established names.

Pour Un Homme de Caron, created in 1934, became particularly significant as the house’s pioneering fragrance for men. Its unusual pairing of aromatic lavender with warm vanilla challenged the conventions of masculine perfumery at the time and remains closely associated with Caron today. The Pour Un Homme family has since expanded through reinterpretations that explore different facets of its aromatic character, while complementary aftershave and grooming products carry the fragrance beyond the traditional spray format.

Caron’s contemporary fragrances continue the house’s preference for strong contrasts and prominent raw materials. Poivre Sacré places pepper and spice at the centre of its composition, while Santal Précieux explores the creamy and woody qualities of sandalwood. Fresher releases such as Yuzu Man take inspiration from citrus and aromatic notes, showing the breadth of a catalogue that moves comfortably between traditional perfumery and more modern scent structures.
